Music Week 2015

On April 17 and 18, the annual wind orchestra concert took place at the Lechauhalle in Kaufering and at the Johann-Winklhofer-Realschule in Landsberg. This traditional event has been held for 30 years in cooperation with the Realschulen of Landsberg, Kaufering, Schongau, and the Landsberg Vocational School. It continues to enjoy great popularity among audiences—this year, 250 people attended the concert in Landsberg. Only a few seats remained unoccupied, and as the vibrant mix of musicians from the four schools entered the triple gymnasium in the Lech city, they were met with thunderous applause.

Under the motto "Simply Animalistic," this year’s program featured well-known pieces and melodies from musicals such as Cats and Tiger Rag. The opening performance was a strong rendition of Eye of the Tiger, one of the most iconic film themes by the American rock band Survivor. The students' performance was framed by the engaging moderation of Kathrin Högenauer, a teacher at the Kaufering Realschule, who skillfully balanced suspense and humor to prepare the audience for each upcoming piece.

Throughout the concert, Alexander Kaltner (RS Kaufering), Tobias Roth (RS Schongau), and Sabine Rüger (RS Landsberg) took turns conducting the orchestra. All three shared the musical direction during the two evenings. In the six days leading up to the concerts, they were supported during a rehearsal retreat in Violau by four additional teachers and two external instructors—working together to prepare the large group of students from different schools for a unified performance.

The Frank Hirschvogel Foundation provided financial support for the schools.
