Music Week 2016
“Crime Time” – under this motto, the traditional spring concert took place on April 8, 2016, in the gymnasium of the Johann-Winklhofer-Realschule in Landsberg. Around 90 students and accompanying teachers invited the audience to a grand crime-themed evening featuring a special program that ranged from James Bond to Chicago and The Blues Brothers.
This unique collaborative project between four schools made the evening possible. For several years, music teachers from the Realschulen in Landsberg, Kaufering, and Schongau, as well as from the Landsberg Vocational School, have been working together across institutions. Once a year, they come together with their students for an intensive rehearsal week at the Music Academy in Marktoberdorf. From this dedicated collaboration, a joint wind orchestra is formed each year to perform a major final concert featuring a demanding repertoire.
Under the direction of teachers Alexander Kaltner, Tobias Roth, and Sabine Rüger, the student wind orchestra has long since become a flagship project of the participating schools.
“It’s always remarkable how, within just one rehearsal week, a fantastic orchestra emerges from many individual voices, playing in perfect harmony,” summarized Annette Ring, deputy principal of the Johann-Winklhofer-Realschule, at the end of the concert. “You were sensational—you transported us into the world of crime, sometimes gently, sometimes powerfully!” The audience in the packed gymnasium clearly agreed: they responded with enthusiastic, sustained applause and demanded several encores.
The following day, the young musicians had another opportunity to showcase their talent in a packed Deckerhalle at Herzogsägmühle in Peiting.
For the fourth year in a row, the Frank Hirschvogel Foundation supported the music week.
