Research and Expermient Week 2017
From April 24 to April 28, 2017, the Frank Hirschvogel Foundation helped fund a stay at the research center in Berchtesgaden for the 8th-grade class of the Welfen-Gymnasium Schongau. As part of the “Experimentation Days,” students were able to conduct numerous experiments and work on technical projects outside the usual classroom environment. The topics covered were closely aligned with the curriculum of the science track and provided a more in-depth look at specific aspects. The program included building functional rockets and analyzing food using DNA testing. In addition to the experiments at the research center, students also had the opportunity to visit the Berchtesgaden salt mine and take a boat trip on Lake Königssee. Since 2016, the “Experimentation Days” have been a permanent part of the school’s curriculum, boosting interest and motivation in applying theoretical scientific knowledge in practice.
