As part of the W-seminars on “Film” / “Film Analysis”, the Welfen High School (Welfen-Gymnasium) in Schongau and the technical crew of a high school in Buchloe (Gymnasium Buchloe) received professional guidance in analyzing, developing and implementing film projects
Prior to this, the students dealt with the various technologies and working steps which are necessary when making professional film productions. Other important elements such as editing, lighting and music were likewise dealt with in the seminars and taught in a number of different ways. After this, film concepts for broadcasting were developed and implemented. To do this, scripted scenes and film formats were generated. During the shooting break, the students learned how to handle professional video equipment and how to deal with actors. They also gained insights into the workings of a film set – even if it was a very small one.

2017 - 2018
In the W-seminar on “Film Analysis” at Gymnasium Buchloe, we dealt with various technologies and working steps which are needed during film productions. For example, we looked at the different camera settings and the effects thereof. This knowledge was gained in part by analyzing scenes. Other important elements such as editing, lighting and music were likewise dealt with in the seminar and taught in a number of different ways. We developed scripted scenes and film formats ourselves. With the aid of an iPad we were then able to put our ideas into practice, as this allowed us to easily film, cut and process the material. These insights into the work of a film director turned out to be much more time-consuming than we thought. However, in spite of the huge amount of time needed to produce relatively brief film sequences, the work was really a lot of fun.
2017
Welfen-Gymnasium shot a promotional film for the school “semi-professionally” in 2016 with the help of German actor Wigald Boning. The pupils were given relevant knowledge in advance before going on to develop the script, shoot the film and edit it themselves with professional support.
The “Technology Crew” at Gymnasium Buchloe developed and shot an image film in 2017 for this still relatively new school under the leadership of media designer Alexander Knauer. With some guidance, the pupils were responsible themselves for designing the script, the roles, brief appearances and the glimpses into various rooms and working groups of the school. Furthermore, some fantastic images were shot with the use of an air drone.
