In the W seminar “Film Analysis” at Gymnasium Buchloe, we explored the many techniques and processes involved in film production. Among other things, we studied different camera angles and their effects, gaining insights through detailed scene analyses. Key aspects such as editing, lighting, and music were also covered and presented in diverse, engaging ways.
We created our own screenplay scenes and film formats. With the help of iPads, we were able to bring our ideas to life—filming, editing, and post-processing our material independently. These insights into a director’s role turned out to be more complex than expected. Still, despite the significant time required for even short film sequences, the creative process was both challenging and deeply rewarding.
Film Projects

Project Description
The Welfen-Gymnasium Schongau and the technical team from the Buchloe Gymnasium carried out film projects within the framework of W-Seminars on “Film” and “Film Analysis,” guided by professional instructors.
Before beginning production, students explored the key techniques and workflows involved in professional filmmaking. The seminars covered essential elements such as editing, lighting, and music, providing a comprehensive understanding of the craft.
Students then developed and implemented their own film concepts for potential broadcasts. They created original scripts and film formats, gaining hands-on experience with professional video equipment and working with actors. The filming phase offered valuable insights into the processes and dynamics of working on a real (albeit small) film set.

Testimonials
In 2017, the “Technikcrew” student team at Gymnasium Buchloe developed and produced a promotional film about their still-young school, under the guidance of media designer Alexander Knauer. With professional support, the students took charge of scripting, casting, and staging creative snapshots across classrooms, subject areas, and project groups.
The production was further enriched by the use of aerial drone footage.
In 2016, Welfen-Gymnasium created a semi-professional school promotional film with the participation of professional actor Wigald Boning in the leading role. Prior to production, students received foundational training and then went on to develop the script, shoot the footage, and edit the film themselves—with guidance from media professionals.
